Book Review - Northern Highlands

New books containing walking routes in Scotland always seem few and far between. This pocket sized book is worth the wait.

Illustrated with some inspirational photography, the routes are not easy. Route descriptions are concise but contain ample information to guide you through the route.

There are 40 walks covering the spectacular "mountain forms of the Northern Highlands". As quoted on the back cover " much of the region is wild and remote, with solitary peaks surrounded by wild moorland .... "

Reasonably priced this is must for any bookshelf even if you never intend visiting the area. None of the routes can be classed as easy by English standards and many invlove considerable amounts of ascent and, for some routes, a length walk or cycle "in" to the true start.

'Pocket Mountains' - the first three in a series of six have been published - the other three are due Spring 2004. Priced at £5.99 each - Guidepost price £5.39 - they offer excellent value for money.
