Book Review - The Pennine Divide

Freedom to Roam Guides are published in association with the Ramblers' Association, and contain ideas for walks through the newly opened Access Land. This particular title is sub-titled "Walking the Moors between Manchester and Yorkshire".

With a cover price of £7.99 this series offer good value for money. There are a few negatives though. With OS mapping included it might have been obvious to mark the route but you are left to work this out from the instructions. Having said this the user for this series should be experienced in map reading and navigation so this might be a case of looking for problems.

The routes are interesting, although for those of you who ignored the notices, you can be excused for feeling smug as many of the areas where access is now legal have been common walking territory for years. Illustrations vary from excellent to nondescript although all have relevance to the walks.
