Book Review - Pocket Mountains

This is the third batch of books from this excellent publisher with the first title with English coverage. As usual the books are convenient, innovative and well illustrated.

With a cover price of £5.99 they offer experienced and up and coming walkers a good excuse to do some research and get out onto the hills. It must be stressed that none of the walks are suitable for novices or those who prefer a quiet level amble.

The Southern Uplands

An area where I have never walked. I am therefore unable to give a 'professional' view of the walks contained in what appears to be a very impressive list. This is one of those areas that tend to get ignored by many walkers as they drive through on their way to somewhere more exciting! This volume gives many good reasons to stop and explore.

The Lake District

This National Park is one of the most popular places in Britain for walkers. However many of the walks in this handy volume have never seen the light of day before. Even for those who know the area very well, I can assure you that you will find something you didn't know or a route that had tempted you in the past but you had never seen in print. .

Hunter Original
So what makes Hunter so much better than all the other brands of wellington? While being very fashionable, they’re a good general use boot that’s comfortable and functional.

Caterpillar Colorado
The classic Caterpillar Colorado style caught my eye. Having worn them for a solid month, I have found them to be a fantastic pair of boots that are very tough.
