Book Review - The Lleyn Peninsula Coastal Path

I am keen user of coastal footpaths and was very pleased when this new book was added to Cicerone's ever expanding range of titles.

With a cover price of £10.00 this book offers excellent value for money. The book is a hybrid in that it caters for walkers and cyclists, although this style does take some getting used to if you normally read walkers-only books.

The route covers the coast from Caernarfon to Porthmadoc. On closer inspection you realise that there are considerable stretches of this coast where access to the cliffs or shoreline is not possible. With current discussion about the contsruction of a footpath the full length of the coast, then some sections of the book will hopefully become redundant in years to come.

Writing style is pleasantly starightforward, precise with not too much waffle. The route maps are overlaid on Ordnanace Survey mapping and are clear and easy to understand in the field. Further navigational aids are the inclusion of pictures of the way ahead with the path marked in red and other more detailed diagrams of route sections. Both of these add to the value of the book. Finally there are some circular walks that are based on some of the highlights of the Lleyn Peninsula Coast.

Overall verdict - a good value offering that covers an area that to date has been largely ignored.

Hunter Original
So what makes Hunter so much better than all the other brands of wellington? While being very fashionable, they’re a good general use boot that’s comfortable and functional.

Caterpillar Colorado
The classic Caterpillar Colorado style caught my eye. Having worn them for a solid month, I have found them to be a fantastic pair of boots that are very tough.
