The Dorset Coast & Coastal Path DVD

With the rain pouring down outside and the prospect of a weekend walk fast fading, I switched on the TV to review this DVD.

The Dorset stretch of the South West Coast Path is around 73 miles long and has been seperated into seven sections, which form the key chapters on the DVD. Starting from Poole Harbour the DVD traces the route of the SWCP as it heads eastwards along the Dorset Coast.

The DVD features quality camera work. It does not attempt to cover just the footpath but includes wildlife, history and other information. All the footage is shot during good weather with blue skies predominating. The soundtrack is succinct although I felt at times the sound of the sea could have been a little less obtrusive.

The producer, Rodney Goodhand, obviously has a wide interest in the area's wildlife and this features strongly in the content. If you are expecting images of people walking the path then forget it. This DVD has much more to offer the viewer. The producer's willife knowledge is a refreshing feature of the DVD adding an extra dimension to the walk.

In addition there are some excellent Greetings Cards that feature scenes from the DVD.

Rating - A good buy. Perfect for those rainy days. Ideal for those wanting to visit the area. Great for someone who has done the path but wants to know more.
