Book Review - Walking in Kent

Kev Reynolds is one of my favourite authors. In the past he has written much on walking in the European Alps and the Himalayas with many books still in print. I have always liked his style and to some extent have been inspired by some of his writing.

His latest book, the subject of this review, is all about his own back yard or ‘The Kentish Alps’ as he refers to his local area. Sadly these days many people seem to write books without the necessary authoritative experience. This is not the case with Kev Reynolds and I am sure that you can complete any of the routes with total confidence in the route descriptions and also any other supplementary information provided.

The range of walks is good. There are 40 in all ranging from 4.5 miles through to 9 miles. Each route has a comprehensive description, OS mapping marked with the route and colour photographs. In addition there is basic information on eleven long-distance paths within or passing through Kent.

Verdict – an excellent buy based on the author’s solid reputation although I was slightly annoyed by the same people appearing in many of the photographs.

Hunter Original
So what makes Hunter so much better than all the other brands of wellington? While being very fashionable, they’re a good general use boot that’s comfortable and functional.

Caterpillar Colorado
The classic Caterpillar Colorado style caught my eye. Having worn them for a solid month, I have found them to be a fantastic pair of boots that are very tough.
