Gear Review - Merrell Chameleon

There are a lot of shoes on the market nowadays that are tailor made for hikers. Brasher, Timberland and Salomon to name but a few. At this moment, however, I am trying out a pair of Merrell Chameleon hiking shoes. I bought them online for a good price, and their reviews are good. What I want to know, is what stands out about these shoes that makes them different from Oakley and Caterpillar. Why should I buy Merrell instead?

The Merrell Chameleon ISO Gore-Tex XCR I'm trying out, at first glance, are a robust and secure hiking shoe that offer a lot of protection from uneven terrain and from the elements. When you first put them on, this first impression is well substantiated. The shoe is cozy, whilst at the same time very breathable, giving your foot plenty of circulation and maneuverability. The sizing is spot on also, with the fit around the feet giving enough space to move whilst keeping your foot securely in place.

As I mentioned earlier, the Merrell Chameleon is ideal for going for a hike in less than ideal conditions, with defence against the elements and adaptation to uneven terrain being the focus of a lot of developmental attention. The sole, made by specialists Vibram, offers a great deal of grip in any condition, whether it is simple walking along a paved street, or trekking through rocky, muddy terrain. The inclusion of ' Gore Tex' lining on the upper provides a waterproof shell for your feet, so even if your shoes get wet, your feet won't.

The price of Merrell is also a factor. Obviously price can and inevitably will vary dependent on where you buy your shoes. However, when compared to Oakley, Merrell Shoes come up ever so slightly cheaper, for what I think is exactly the same if not better quality.
