Gear Review - Hunter Original

Now that the weather is turning a bit grotty,
I decided to surprise my girlfriend with a pair of pink Hunter wellies for her birthday. She certainly didn’t expect them and while they may not be the most traditional of romantic gifts, she loves them to bits and wears them to work every day. Considering that I found them online for a good price, I thought I would treat myself to a pair of Hunter Originals as well, but in a more masculine green colour.

While my other half focuses on looking fashionable, I’m more of a practical person and it’s rare to find boots that do both, especially when they’re wellies.

So what makes Hunter so much better than all the other brands of wellington? While being very fashionable with a long list of A-list celebrities and Royalty including Kate Moss and Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as Prince William and Princess Anne, they’re a good general use boot that’s cleanly shaped and styled, but comfortable and functional.

They’re very well made and have an orthopedic fit which seems to mould to your foot and shin shape while giving you added support in your step. They also do up around the calf to prevent slipping while a cushioned insole gives your feet a very soft and comfortable feeling when you’re walking. We quite often enjoy walks along the river and considering how damp and soggy the ground has been, I definitely bought these at the perfect time.

Hunter wellies provide a great fit, a comfortable feeling, good look and plenty of stability in your step. And if any water does manage to get inside, they dry very quickly as well. Basically, they’re everything you could ever want from a good pair of wellies.
