Photo Competition

The gallery with the entries for the 2007 photo competition has now been added to the site.

After a slight delay, a selection of the images entered for the 2007 Walking Britain Photo Competition are now available for browsing. The theme was Enjoyment of Walking and the entries exhibited a wide range of interpretation of this broad subject. Sadly the Internet is not the best medium for displaying images as there is considerable loss of quality. However let it be said that there were some superb pictures that captured the scene with a great degree of professionalism and quality.

The entries can be broadly split into two categories - those without people and those with. Many of the people shots had an element of humour and this was nice to see as emotions of this type are often very difficult to capture. The entries that concentrated on scenery and animals were very varied altough there was perhaps an expected large number of pictures from the Lake District.

After a week or so I will add my shortlist after which the final winner be announced. I have the unenviable job of being judge, jury and executioner but rest assured that I will treat all entries with equal merit until judged otherwise. Obviously I had a clear idea of what I expected when the competition started and I am pleased to say that it has been met.
