Date - 18 Jan 2008 The British Library was in touch a few days ago and has selected Walking Britain as a web site worthy of archiving for posterity. The British Library noted that the “… site has been selected to form part of a collection of websites representing aspects of UK documentary heritage”. The aim of this archive is to provide a retrospective view of British web sites and to maintain them so that are accessible by whatever current technology is in place in the future. One of the issues as many people discovered with video tape and many other media, that as technology moves forward then previous methods of storage become obsolete. The UK Web Archiving Consortium is at www.webarchive.org.uk where further information about this service and its considerable contents can be found.
