The Vale of Edale as seen by the walker approaching the village
of Edale. The path snaking across the pasture is the first (or last) section of
the Pennine Way. To the right hand side of the picture is the Castleton Ridge
with the "pointed" outline of Lose Hill dominating the distance. To
the left of the frame are the flanks of Kinder Scout falling in this instance
from Ringing Roger. This panorama, taken in June 1999, certainly makes Britain
look a green and pleasant land with hedgerows and trees all fully leafed.
