The Howgills in late June 1999 with the sun already high in sky
despite it still being early morning. Taken from the parking area near Tom Croft
Cave a few miles east of Sedbergh on the A684 to Hawes, the ground drops away
to the lower reaches of Garsdale with the Howgill Fells behind. The highest point
is The Calf which is in clear view in this panorama. Away to the left almost off
the frame is Sedbergh, a perfect base for exploring this wonderful part of Britain
with the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks within easy reach.
