The breakwater protects the small harbour of Sennen Cove, which is loacted a mile or so north of Land's End in Cornwall. The slipway is part of the lifeboat station which is being modernised at the moment. Across Whitesand Bay lies Cape Cornwall - one of only two Capes in Britain.
