Information for Walkers

Located on the western slopes of the North Pennine hills, Milburn Grange offers the perfect base for walkers. With a mountain backdrop and views west to the Lakeland Fells, and within easy driving distance of the Yorkshire Dales and Northumbria National Parks, the cottages offer an immense variety of walking.

The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offers some of the wildest terrain in England and with the Pennine Way following the main ridge provides the basis for some very challenging walks. On the other hand, the walled lanes and field paths lower down the slopes provide easier day and half days walks amidst stunning scenery.

The three National Parks each offer their own unique scenic character. The Yorkshire Dales provide many fine walks from the rolling hills of the Howgill Fells to the less demanding limestone dales in the northern sector of the park. Northumbria in contrast offers a mixture of history and scenery. The recently opened Hadrian's Wall trail provides excellent day walks that offer an insight into Britain's past whilst further north the Kielder Forest and the Cheviots provide harder routes. Only a few miles distance, the Lakeland Fells are home to some of the finest walking country in the UK with something to suit everyone. Gentle lakeside paths offer moments of tranquility whilst for those in need of an adrenalin rush then the higher fells will certainly satisfy their needs.
