Oldfield House is a former Victorian Gentleman’s’ residence that now offers high quality 4 Star Silver Award bed & breakfast accommodation in Windermere. The Guest House is situated in a quiet residential area away from the busy main road yet is still only a short walk to Lake Windermere and is the ideal location for your short break in the Lake District and for exploring the world of Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth.

All of our 8 rooms are en-suite, are appointed with many creature comforts, and are regularly decorated and refurbished to compliment your stay. All have a TV, beverage tray, complimentary toiletries, hairdryer and radio alarm clock. All the bathrooms have the latest Megaflow shower technology, ensuring you have a real power shower. There are two premier double rooms and our family room can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children. We have a twin bedded room and for the single travellers we have 2 single rooms.

Breakfast reflects our commitment to using fresh locally sourced produce. We want to tempt you with a full English breakfast with Cumberland sausages, locally cured bacon, and free-range eggs. There are also croissant, smoked salmon with scrambled egg and bagels, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and a range of teas and coffee. We can cater for vegetarians and by prior arrangement, those with special diets. For walkers we can offer packed lunches, flask filling and drying facilities.

Information for Walkers

Windermere enjoys an excellent location in the Lake District National Park with easy access to all parts of this beautifully scenic area. Alfred Wainwright, the notable fell walker, first saw his beloved Lakeland Fells from Windermere and today many walkers are also inspired by this special location.

The great attraction of the Lake District is the diversity of the opportunities for walking from gentle lakeside and rural strolls to some of the toughest walks in England. Close by is some easy walking but it is only a few minutes drive to reach the start of many walks on the higher fells that captivated Wainwright on his first visit.
