Riverside Lodge is a property of immense charm and character with two adjoining self-catering holiday cottages in Ambleside; Middlebeck Cottage and Overbeck Cottage. Located in a unique position on the banks of the River Rothay, just 500 yards from the centre of Ambleside and a similar walk (or paddle) downstream leads to the head of Lake Windermere from where Windermere Lake Cruises depart from the pier to Bowness.
A gated large gravel car park is provided from which a private footbridge provides access to the cottages. The delightful garden borders the river on both sides providing plenty of space from which to enjoy the wildlife and views over the river and adjacent Loughrigg Fell.

The three cottages are furnished and equipped to exceed the requirements of the 4 star Visit England quality scheme. Additionally the Lodge has received the coveted Gold award in recognition of exceptional quality.
On the doorstep, Ambleside provides the ideal base from which to explore and walk in the Lake District as well as embrace Lakeland village life. With a backdrop of lakeshore and breath-taking Lakeland Fells it's a wonderful base for a Lake District holiday.
The village is steeped in history, scattered with attractive traditional Lake District cottages, the contemporary shopping streets remain a delight to explore. Sample excellent cafes and stock up the kitchen or pick up a picnic at one of the excellent delis. Ambleside also has two cinemas, and for the more energetic; mini and crazy golf courses, bowling, tennis courts and an indoor climbing wall.
For evening entertainment and special occasions you'll find plenty of choice right on the doorstep. There are several acclaimed Lake District restaurants as well as excellent pubs serving award-winning Lakeland ale and fabulous food.
Walking in the area
As one would expect the location of Riverside Lodge offers easy access to some of the greatest walking in Britain. A central location within the Lake District National Park ensures that a wide variety of walks from easy strolls to high mountain adventures are close at hand. For many walks there is no need to travel far. Indeed you can walk from the door and tackle some of the many fells in the immediate vicinity or enjoy strolls along the shores of Lake Windermere.
Slightly further afield and you can be on the summit of Helvellyn, England's third highest peak. Travel a bit further and Scafell Pike, England's highest can be ascended in a day. In between there is so much walking that you could easily stay for a month from the delights of Langdale, the Consiton Fells, the hills around Grasmere plus much, much more!
