Visit the Ruby's Cottage Website Just 5 miles from the M6 motorway, this lesser known, quieter yet thriving area is where the Lake District meets the Yorkshire Dales. Ruby's Cottage is Grade II listed and part of a former mill on the outskirts of the market town of Sedbergh. Although in Cumbria, Sedbergh is officially on the western fringes of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, thereby giving easy access to both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales plus the added bonus of having the Howgills (the surrounding fells which Wainwright called the "Sleeping Elephants") on the doorstep.
Our cottage has been restored to a very high standard providing cosy self-catering holiday accommodation for up to four people. The cottage is light and airy with electric heating. The cottage is well furnished and includes wide screen tv and cd/dvd player. The kitchen is equally well appointed. Upstairs there are two bedrooms (one double and one twin) and a bathroom. Bed linen and towels are included in the price per week. Walking in the area The walking is superb. Close by are the wonderful Howgill Fells with their excellent walking to suit all levels. A few minutes drive to the east is the picturesque village of Dent located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The surrounding area is packed with walking opportunities from Yorkshire's Big Three (Whernside, Pen-y-ghent & Ingleborough) to less demanding valley and country walks. That's not all! Head west and you are almost immediately in the Lake District National Park with its equally diverse walks. Here there are the great fells to climb, the lakeside paths to explore and the many other scenic delights of this wonderful walking area.
