This Devon coastal walk starts from the car park on the sea front at Torcross (grid ref. SX823423) and follows the South West Coast path all way down the coast south to Start Point. The return follows the outward route. Navigation is easy and with excellent coastal views throughout, it is the prefect route for a leisurely day beside the sea.

After parking, cross the road and turn south (with the sea to your left) and follow the generally well-signed South West Coast Path to Torcross Point. The path then diverts inland and climbs around the landward side of the disused Beesands Quarry before descending to continue past Widdicombe Ley (a lagoon to your right) and along Bee Sands to reach the small village of Beesands. After a very short section of road walking the South West Coast Path climbs onto Tinsey Head before descending to the village of Hallsands.

After another brief section along a road, the path climbs onto the cliff tops to reach a superb viewpoint near Start Farm from where there is an excellent vista of most of the walk. A gentle descent from the viewpoint leads you towards the lighthouse at Start Point. Note that you leave the South West Coast Path for the final 500 metres of the walk to the lighthouse.

To return to the start, retrace your steps along the South West Coast Path enjoying a different perspective of this lovely stretch of coast.
