A tough route into the Carneddau that requires some perseverance in the early stages. The start is the village of Gerlan near Bethesda and the walk heads into unpathed territory quite soon. The ascent of Yr Elen is quite steep and requires good visibility. The return takes you over Foel Ganol which sees very few walkers. Suggested Maps It is recommended you take a map with you when following a walk route. The preferred scale is 1:25000 used by the Explorer series.
