Herdwick Sheep are few in numbers and are found in the Lake District

Herdwick Sheep are few in numbers and were under serious threat during the foot and mouth crisis of 2001. Here a Ewe and her lamb keep a watchful eye on a pile of sandwiches ... The lambs are born with black wool but this disappears as they grow older. This breed is particularly suited to the Lake District terrain and climate.
