The quarries near Haytor Rocks provided high quality granite

The quarries near Haytor Rocks provided high quality granite. The stone was moved on a horse drawn tramway evidence of which remains. As might be expected the rails are made from granite! The track on the right leads down to Holwell Quarry whilst the he other line leads straight ahead to quarries on the flank of Saddle Tor.
