The weir is a good spot for seeing herons and Kingfishers as the width of the weir means that the water is shallow at this point. Herons like the shallower water but salmon need just the opposite - hence the "salmon ladder" seen on the right of the picture. Fishing is private to licence holders only - so don't even think about it......
