The view down Rannerdale with Crummock Water and Loweswater framed by the slopes of Rannerdale Knotts on the left and Grassmoor on the right. The excellent descent path passes through the site of the battle where the Normans were ambushed and slaughtered by Norse Settlers almost 1000 years ago.
