2007 Photo Competition Gallery - Image 178

New Forest, Hampshire

Photo 178 - by Gillian Moy

New Forest, Hampshire

Description - The attached photo was taken whilst walking in Shatterford Bottom, New Forest, Hampshire. This September the heathland has been covered in heathers of amazing colours. I think this is because we have had such a wet summer.  Walking in this area gives such enjoyment as the landscape is so varied, heathland gives way to woods of pine, oak, beach and many others.  Also the New Forest Ponies wander free as do cattle and, depending on the acorn drop, pigs!
