North York Moors, North Yorkshire
Great Ayton is situated just outside the northern border of the North York Moors National Park. It is an ideal centre for those who wish to explore the moors of this wonderful National Park. The village's amenities include pubs and restaurants. Accommodation in the area is varied and included campsites and caravan parks. Public transport does provide links to some of the walks in this beautiful area and there is a rail service from Middlesborough.
All walks are free to download and print all have GPS files. The highlights are walks that include Roseberry Topping, Captain Cook's Monument and Highcliff Nab which are close to the village. Further afield routes across the moors predominate. Coastal walks are within reach from Great Ayton too.
