Curlews Cottage, Looe, Cornwall
Sleeps six to eight - close to beach and South West Coast Path
This large three-storey stone cottage built about 1500 is situated in a quiet courtyard (the old medieval market square) in the heart of East Looe. Ideally placed, it's just a minute's walk from the beach, harbour, shops, pubs and restaurants and also on the South West Coast Path, which offers some great walking.
The property is well-equipped and tastefully furnished. It comfortably sleeps six, although it has the capacity to sleep a maximum of eight (two double bedrooms and a twin room with bunk-beds in one of the double bedrooms).
The front door opens into the bright and airy open-plan ground floor living and kitchen area, which has been tastefully decorated and furnished with comfortable sofas and a breakfast bar to comfortably seat six people. The triple-aspect room has slate flooring and a well-equipped kitchen. A colour flat-screen TV, DVD player, CD player and iPad docking station are provided for your entertainment. (A washing machine and tumble drier are supplied in the bathroom.) All linen, gas and electric are included in the cost. Features including a granite fireplace, with solid-fuel burner and full central-heating make this a perfect all-year round venue.
The bedrooms are located over two floors: the main double bedroom on the first floor has an attractive feature fireplace. There is also a spacious family bathroom on the first floor with a shower over the bath and a WC, with an additional cloakroom on this floor. There is a further double-bedroom on the second-floor with additional full-sized bunk beds (separated by a partition) if required and a further twin bedroom.
Information for Walkers
The South West Coast Path passes close to the cottage and provides the basis for some of the finest walking in Cornwall. The coast path offers walks to suit all abilities from short evening strolls to more challenging full day hikes. As might be expected the coastal views are superb and you get the benefit of plenty of fresh air! Walking west pretty Polperro and the estuary town of Fowey offer possible areas to walk.
Away from the coast there are also many interesting walks taking in the rolling countryside, estuaries and pretty villages. You might also take the train along the pretty branch line from Looe to Liskeard from where there are a number of options for walking back to Looe.
Further afield in Cornwall and in nearby Devon more great walking is available from moorland routes through rugged granite strewn landscapes to a variety of other landscapes all within easy reach.
