Gear Review - KEEN's Balboa Ladies’ Sandals

KEEN's Balboa SandalsFor a change this gear review features an item produced specifically for women. These sandals have been designed for walking and as such feature many areas of design that make them a useful addition to your walking wardrobe.

I acquired a pair of these sandals shortly before I suffered an injury to my big toe. For weeks they were the only shoes I could wear for  short and long walks and they are still my favourite summer footwear – really comfortable and practical whilst just a bit more “edgy” in design than most competitors - great colour choices and a bonus that they are available in half sizes.

The design allows air to circulate whilst protecting the toe from knocks and they are fairly good at keeping bits of grit and stone at bay. Ideal for low level walks on all sorts of footpaths though I would not wear them for serious mountain walking.

Really hard wearing they have taken all sorts of knocks and were ready for cleaning ready for a summer trip to the Italian Dolomites. Put in the washing machine on a 30 degree wash they came out as good as new and are now in great condition for some of the lighter walks on my summer mountain holiday.
