Cheeseden Brook from Pooley Bridge, Heywood
Introduction to Walk 1619

Photo from the walk - Cheeseden Brook from Pooley Bridge, Heywood

County/Area - Rochdale

Author - Allan Friswell

Length - 7.4 miles / 12 km

Ascent - 700 feet / 212 metres

Grade - easy/mod

This Rochdale walk features a mixture of road, pasture, woodland, riverside and hilltop walking. The Calderdale signature note of running water is rarely far away. In winter an extremely muddy walk, and the half mile ridge overlooking Cheeseden Brook is vertiginous, making the use of a walking pole a good idea. But wonderful high views over to Heywood and to the impressive turbines on distant Scout Moor.
