A lovely short walk exploring St Anthony Head. The route explores countryside and coast with views across to St Mawes and Falmouth across the Carrick Roads. The walk starts from near Bohortha and includes the small community of St Anthony with its fine church. Joining the South West Coast Path the route continues around the headland passing St Anthony's lighthouse before ending on the clifftop above Porthbeor Beach.

The start is a small parking area (grid ref. SW862321) a short way south of the lane into Bohortha when arriving from Portscatho. After parking walk back towards Portscatho and turn left along the lane into Bohortha. Pass between the cottages and continue to the end of the lane. Walk straight ahead onto a track running between hedges to reach the edge of woodland. Bear left and follow the field path running beside the wood which is on your right. Continue down the field to a lane (grid ref. SW857320).

Turn right and almost immediately left to join the South West Coast Path. The path runs to the left of St Anthony's church and shortly after turns right with woodland on your left. Leaving the trees there is a view across to St Mawes as the path runs at water level by Sellars Beach. After a short climb, the path descends to the shore and turns left with a view ahead to Pendennis Castle and Falmouth. The undulating path, typical of coastal walking, continues to St Anthony Head with its lighthouse which occupies a solitary position on the headland. Just prior to reaching the lighthouse the South West Coast Path turns left up to the remains of the castle.

The onward path skirts the remains of the fortifications before passing Zone Point. Continue along the coast path for two kilometres to reach Porthbeor Beach. About halfway along the beach a fingerpost points inland. Take this path to return to the start.

Note Alternative parking is available at St Anthony's Head and also at the end of the lane through Bohortha.
