This superb coastal walk from Newgale to Solva follows the Pembrokeshire Coast Path which is easy to follow and offers some outstanding views and interesting geology. Like all coast paths the route is undulating with short ascents. A convenient bus service links Newgale and Sola. It is recommended you park at the end of the walk and catch the bus to the start as this allows a more leisurely walk with plenty of time to fully appreciate the many coastal features.
Get off the bus at café by the beach in Newgale (grid ref. SM847223). Walk uphill and turn left onto the signed Coast Path. Look back for a fine view along Newgale Beach. The path runs along the cliff tops all the way and it is worth pausing occasionally to enjoy the retrospective view. The rocky headland of Dinas Fach is the first major landmark. After just over a kilometre, you reach Dinas Fawr a grass topped headland with a few remains of a fort which can be reached along a narrow path.
The final headland is Elvis Rock from where a n excellent view can be enjoyed of the narrow entrance to Solva harbour. The path continues across the Gribin and then descends to the estuary with Solva lime kilns on your left. Continue along the Coast Path to reach Solva harbour and the village of Solva with refreshments and other local amenities.
This walk can be extended to St Davids – see Walk 2971 – with the opportunity to visit the cathedral and explore the smallest city in Britain.

Further Information
Pembrokeshire Coast Walking
Walking in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is Britain's only truly coastal national park. Rimmed by a spectacular waterscape of rugged cliffs, sandy beaches and wooded estuaries, the land rises to wild inland hills. This environment is a place of sanctuary for wildlife who share the landscape that has been shaped by many people over the centuries. Tombs and castles, crosses and cottages, quarries and quays are all reminders of man's endeavours, which remains a working landscape. Inland the Preseli Hills offer excellent walking across the moorland ridge.
