Blatherwycke Bridge, Northamptonshire

Blatherwycke Bridge, Northamptonshire

Caption - This Grade II Listed bridge crosses the Willow Brook at the south western end of Blatherwycke Lake. The bridge has several datestones - 1656, 1726, and 1826, they are for the various phases of construction or repair. It was largely rebuilt in 1915. The 58-acre Blatherwycke Lake lies along the Willow Brook, it is part of the Blatherwycke Estate, and was dug by hand during the mid-19th century by Irish labourers who had come to England seeking work during the Great Famine. It is the largest man-made lake in Northamptonshire. Blatherwyke Hall was built in 1720 and was demolished in 1948 after falling derelict. Blatherwycke is a small village in North Northamptonshire.
