County/Area - Bedfordshire

Author - Donald Morton

Length - 9.0 miles / 14.6 km

Ascent - 250 feet / 76 metres

Time - 4 hours 50 minutes

Much of this walk is within the 3000 acre deer park surrounding Woburn Abbey, seat of the Duke of Bedford. This carefully designed natural landscape is home to nine species of deer and fairly close meetings with the animals are pretty well guaranteed. The return leg makes use of the Greensand Ridge Walk route and takes in a ruined medieval church and a couple of interesting villages and provides good views of the Abbey itself. Three opportunities for refreshment are mentioned in the walk description. This walk could be combined with walk 1351 to make either longer or shorter. A GPS File is available for download (see walk description).
