This Essex walk from Epping Green explores an area of low hills which offer good vies across Nazeing Common and the River Lee. The route follows paths and tracks including sections of the Three Foresters Way, the Forest Way, and the Stort Valley Way. The start is Epping Green where parking is available close to the Traveller's Friend pub (grid ref. TL435055).

After parking turn left past the front of the Traveller's Friend (on your left) and, just past the pub, take the signed footpath (Three Forests Way) between hedges into a field. Descend following the hedge on your right. Bear left along a clear track with Lodge Farm on your right. Just past the farm bear right onto a side track continuing ahead on the Three Forests Way. The track bends left and then half right. Reaching the next gateway, turn left over a small footbridge and then right to reach an enclosed bridleway (grid ref. TL425067). Turn left and continue to Common Road.

Go left and in a few metres, right onto a signed path before the Sun Inn with the fingerpost by the 40-mph sign. Initially enclosed this path leads into a field. Walk half left to a kissing gate in the hedge and maintain direction across a second field keeping the hedge to your right. Go through the kissing gate onto Betts Lane and turn left. Shortly after, take the right-hand fork and continue past the gates to Nazeing Park. Continue along the drive to just before the first house on the right. Turn right onto the signed footpath into a field. You are now on the Stort Valley Way.

Descend across the field following the right-hand hedge. This leads to Back Lane. Go straight across onto a signed footpath (with houses to the right). Continue along the path through the golf course to reach a track. Bear left along the track and after a short distance bear right onto a path following markers around the holes to a lane. Cross over the lane onto another path. Cross a footbridge and bear left along the edge of the course to reach a lane in the corner. Continue along the lane (which leads from the clubhouse) to reach Nazeing Common Road.

Go left and then after a few metres cross the road to a signed footpath. Follow the hedge on your right to the field corner and turn left keeping the hedge on your right. Continue along the hedge to just before a pylon where you turn right on a path that heads uphill with the hedge to your left. As you approach the top, the path bears left to join a track (grid ref. TL416046). Continue ahead on the track passing Copy Wood on your left. Continue following the bridleway along Epping Long Green for about 1.5 kilometres back to the start.
