An excellent walk exploring the Vrynwy Valley between Pont Llogel and the village of Dolanog. The walk also includes Allt Dolanog an area of higher ground with occasional rocky outcrops with views across the valley, the surrounding countryside and the Berwyn Hills. The route follows sections of the Glyndŵr Way and the Ann Griffiths Walk which both celebrate two Welsh heroes.

The walk starts from the Coed Pontllogel free car park (grid ref. SJ032154). After parking follow the footpath sign to the Ann Griffiths walk which leads south from the car park. The path runs beside the River Vrynwy on your right. After a kilometre of delightful walking, you cross a small footbridge (grid ref. SJ040149). Turn left to follow the Glyndŵr Way which climbs gently across fields with a hedge on your right to reach a lane. Turn right and almost immediately left along the access drive to Llynwhir. After 60 metres, bear left through a gate down to a power pole. Turn right along path around the base of a hill. Reaching a pair of gates, pass through the left-hand gate and continue past barns on your right. Continue through next gate and follow path with woodland on your left. Pass through a gate and turn right down a field soon veering left to walk beside a small wood with barns above on your left. Continue through metal gate to a lane (grid ref. SJ055152).

Turn right uphill and then left at a fingerpost to join a clear track. Stay on track for a kilometre and turn right through gate (grid ref. SJ065153). The path runs beside a fence on your left. Reaching a pair of gates, take the left one and head uphill across two fields with fence now on your right. Reaching a waymark, turn right with hedge right. Turn left in the next field and then right in the next to reach the access drive to Dolwar Fach. Bear left down the drive to the B4382 and turn right. Almost immediately turn left through a gate with adjacent fingerpost (grid ref. SJ065142) to enter open access land of Allt Dolanog. Follow track for 350 metres and fork right along a grassy path which swings left after 200 metres before veering right to pass a tree on your left. Continue ahead downhill towards several trees, Bear right and continue to join a track which leads gently downhill into Dolanog and past a chapel to reach the B4382 (grid ref. SJ065128).

Turn left along the road, pass the church on your right, and then turn right onto the signed footpath. The path crosses several fields and through gates to reach Camp Plas where you head to the left of a wooden barn and a gate by a fingerpost. Cross the road to the signed path opposite. Continue along the riverside path which is rocky in places. Continue for four kilometres with the river on your left to return to the start.
