Herdwick Sheep from Lake District

Previous Image Walk Description Next Image

Caption - Herdwick Sheep are few in numbers and were under serious threat during the foot and mouth crisis of 2001. Here a Ewe and her lamb keep a watchful eye on a pile of sandwiches ... The lambs are born with black wool but this disappears as they grow older. This breed is particularly suited to the Lake District terrain and climate.
