The old signal box at Hartington station

Caption - The old signal box at Hartington station. The station, like many, was a fair way from the village. It was a very busy station with many excursion trains bringing walkers to the area from many Midlands cities as late as the early 1960s. The sign was originally located on the platform and lists Dove Dale, Beresford Dale and the Manifold Valley as the key attractions for walkers.
