Information for walkers

The North York Moors National Park offers a wide range of walks for all abilities with a wonderful contrast between the high moors and the rugged coastline. The moorlands offer some very challenging routes far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. These walks often require high level of skills in navigation and outdoor skills.

In contrast the National Park offers many shorter and less strenuous routes that take in rural villages, quiet country lanes, pretty countryside and sections of the coastal footpath.

Two long distance trails are also within easy reach. The Coast To Coast National Trail, designed by Alfred Wainwright, crosses England from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood's Bay in North Yorkshire and provides the basis for some excellent circular day walks. Of more local interest is the Cleveland Way National Trail that winds its way through the North York Moors National Park and the surrounding area. Again the trail offers a basis for some excellent circular walks.
