Book Review - Trailblazer Guide - Dales Way

Book cover imageThe Dales Way is not the most challenging of the long distance footpaths but passes through the delightful scenery of the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District National Parks. Enjoyed by many walkers either as short sections or as an eight day route which is testament to its appeal.

I have always liked Trailblazer guides as they always provide what is promised on the cover. The contents are logically presented and are never over-burdened with unnecessary prose and poeticism. The book is full of practical tips on transport, accommodation and where to eat backed up by clearly drawn maps of the route.

I have said it before but reading through the text it is obvious the author has actually done the route as it is full of interesting tidbits of information. Well done to Henry Steadmad the author.

The guide runs to 184 pages and is packed with trail maps, route description and useful observations. There is a wide range of information on public transport (that enables you to easily construct shorter day walks), accommodation (including Airbnb) and places to eat plus notes on flora, fauna, history and colour photos. There is also a section for overseas visitors.
