The Lune at Devil's Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale

Walk Photo 237201

The Lune at Devil's Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale

Caption - The river is squeezed through a narrow gap formed by shelving beds of Carboniferous limestone. The bridge would normally be thronged with day trippers and tourists but an evening visit on a day of heavy April showers has caught it in a quiet mood. One of the finest medieval bridges in England, it possibly dates back to the 15th Century and is a Grade I listed Scheduled Ancient Monument.
