Monkhouse Hill Cottages

Monkhouse Hill has a lovely range of cottages for couples - including one which has been specifically designed for two couples holidaying together. Three cottages have rather special lace covered four poster beds, two have spa baths or sauna suites.

There are four smaller family cottages at Monkhouse Hill, sleeping from four to six people in varying bedroom combinations. In addition Monkhouse Hill provides ideal accommodation for extended families or groups of families or friends.

Each cottage is superbly equipped with comfortable furnishings. All kitchens have cookers with ovens and hobs, microwave cookers, kettles, toasters and coffee makers. Some cottages have fridge freezers with refrigerators with freezer boxes provided in the others. All cottages are fully equipped with crockery, cutlery and kitchen utensils. Colour television and a hi fi with CD, tape and radio is standard and you can hire a video player by arrangement. In addition there are laundry facilities on site with some cottages having their own washer/driers.

All the cottages have a small patio area in the courtyard, with garden tables and chairs. Barbecue equipment is available for guests to use. There is 2 acres of grass paddock, which is ideal for picnics, ball games and dog exercising, and of course the children's adventure playground.

Information for Walkers

Northern Lakeland lies undiscovered with open fells providing wonderful walking. The highlights are Skiddaw, the fourth highest peak in the Lakes and Blencathra, one of the great mountains of the National Park. Both these mountains offer excellent routes with some ascents for those who like a challenge. Once on the tops the views south across the whole of Lakeland are magnificent and make the effort worthwhile.

Slightly further afield is the Helvellyn range and the fells of the Grasmoor massif. These areas are known for walks to suit all abilities from gentle low level strolls to more demanding high level hikes. In the valleys the lakes themselves provide easy walking and with few gradients these routes offer a leisurely way to enjoy the scenery.
