For those wanting to enjoy the hills in this beautiful area between Inverness and Ullapool you always have the option of 'doing' a Munro. However for those with less energy or time, tackling the lower summits is always rewarding especially if the weather is fine. The summit of Little Wyvis is 764 metres above sea level, somewhat dwarfed by its namesake Ben Wyvis which tops out at over a thousand metres.

The start is on the west side of the A835 about 4 km north of Garve. When arriving from the Inverness direction you will pass through Garve and then see the turnoff on your right for the A832. Just over 2 km there is a car park signed on your left.

After parking cross the A835 and walk north along the road to the first track on your right turning left almost immediately up a rough track. Continue past a building and on to a gate. The climb is steady but never steep and the path easy to follow. You reach another gate and at the next junction go left (grid ref. NH418639).

From here the contours are closer but the track begins to zigzag. Reaching another junction at grid ref. NH422646) bear right and continue following the track as it zigzags up the western flank of the hill. Ignore the track going left just below the summit and continue onto the summit cairn from where it is hoped the weather is good enough for you to enjoy the views. Ben Wyvis lies to the northwest and its size can be appreciated from its 'little brother'.
