Starting from Piddletrenthide this Dorset walk explores some beautiful countryside lying north of the village. The route offers fine views, visits the attractive village of Plush along the way with refreshments available at three pubs along the walk. The walk uses signed paths and tracks, and it is likely you will see few other walkers.

The start is the parking area opposite the Piddle Inn in Piddletrenthide (grid ref. SY705998). After parking face the Inn and turn left. Then at the end of the building take the signed bridleway on the right. Follow the track over the River Piddle and continue to a path junction after 100 metres. Turn right and continue to a lane. Turn left and then take the first bridleway on the right. Continue ahead for just under a kilometre to reach a 'crossroads' with a thatched cottage on your right (grid ref. ST702006). Turn right along Church Lane and pass the church on your left and continue up to the B3143.

Turn left along the B3143 for 100 metres and turn right at the first fingerpost on the right. Initially a track the route climbs steadily to a stile. Cross the stile and walk half-right across a large field aiming for the top right-hand corner (grid ref. ST708022). Cross the stile, and continue along the right-hand edge of the next field passing over the top of West Hill. Descend to a stile and turn right with hedge on your right. Turn right through the first gap onto a track. Follow this clear track (part of the Hardy Way) down to a lane in the village of plush (grid ref. ST714021).

Turn left and continue to a thatched cottage on the left and turn right (signed to Mappowder). Continue along the lane soon passing thatched cottages on wither side. Follow the lane round to the left and continue uphill beneath trees. After 200 metres turn right onto the first footpath with fingerpost. Pass through metal gate and head half-right up the field to a stile (grid ref. ST717020), Go half-left across the next field and maintain direction across the next field aiming a small copse (grid ref. ST721018). Bear right in front of the trees soon joining a track.

Follow the track for just over a kilometre to reach a lane (grid ref. ST717005). Cross the road, ignore the access drive to Dole's Ash Farm and follow the fingerpost in the hedge. The bridleway follows the hedge (on your right). After 600 metres, turn right along a bridleway between hedges (grid ref. S722001). Follow the clear grassy path/track past a small copse on your right and continue ahead to reach the B3143 in Piddletrenthide. Turn right back to the start of the walk.
