A New Forest walk, with my Whippet, exploring the Wilverley Inclosure. We enjoy the stunning Autumnal colours of the woodland, explore "The Naked Man" (an ancient Oak tree that was used to hang Smugglers & Highwaymen) and visit the Holmsley Station Tea Rooms for some light refreshment half way around! We have fun crossing the Avon Water (and a tricky stile!) and get a view, from a distance, of Peterson's Folly at Sway.

To see The Naked Man - head North from Wilverley FC Car Park and keep Wilverley Inclosure Woods on your left - turn left (woods on your left and Wilverley Plain on your right) and keep straight. The Naked Man can be found at the very end of the track - on your right about 40 m from the woods. Retrace your steps for the main walk. Start at Wilverley FC Car Park and leave by the wooden gate waymarked "Wilverley Wander".

Bear right at first junction waymarked "Scouts" and keep straight on at a bench seat 150 yards on. Follow route marked with green and yellow banded posts until the track bears left and drops to a crossway. Keep straight on here until track bears right and climbs a steady incline that brings you to a junction within earshot of the A35. Swing hard left here along cycle route. Track winds downhill then left at a bench seat. Fork right leaving gravelled route for a greener track. After 120 yards turn left at forest crossways and follow grassy track until it leaves inclosure at small wooden gate.

To visit the tea rooms, head right and fork left after 450 yards - path meanders down under A35 bridge and you can see tea rooms in the distance. Retrace your steps to continue walk. Continue back along woodland edge for 170 yards and follow a well-made path that swings right under an old railway bridge. Ford the Avon Water go through wooden gate into Brownhill Inclosure. Path takes you to a cycle track. Turn left and follow route all the way to Wootton Coppice Inclosure. Leave woods by gate and turn left on to a road and cross Wootton Bridge. Follow rough path uphill which bears slightly right and meets road a few paces East of the junction. Cross road and bear right on to sandy track that runs parallel with roads up towards Wilverley Plain. Cross drive to Wilverley Lodge and keep ahead back to car park.
