This short Lake District circular walk explores the area south of the village of Satterthwaite in Furness. The route passes through forest, visits an un-named tarn, continues beside waterfalls and rapids, and offers scenic interest throughout.

The start is the forest car park just south of Satterthwaite Bridge (grid ref. SD336919). Leave the back of the car park and walk north-west on the track (Moor Lane). Just before the wall in the field to the right, take the footpath to the left. Continue along this path to reach a bridge below an un-named tarn. Cross the bridge and turn sharp left to follow the right bank of the stream past waterfalls. After just over 500 metres turn left and follow a track that zig zags down and crosses a river. Bear right at the next junction and drop down to a minor road at Low Bowkerstead (grid ref. SD336914).

Turn right. Continue down this road passing a footpath sign to the right and cross the river on a stone bridge. Immediately turn right down to the river on a way marked footpath. Follow this path alongside waterfalls and rapids before re-joining the road for a short distance down to Force Mills.

At the road junction (grid ref. SD341910) turn left. Continue along this road for several hundred metres to reach a car park at Blind Lane. Take the path from the rear of the car park marked by green and white posts heading over the rise to meet eventually a large forest trail. Turn left and walk up hill for about 400 metres before taking a path through Birch woods to the left. This path climbs up to a junction. Continue straight ahead downhill now on a path that eventually becomes a track and then a metalled road. Turn left by the church and continue over Satterthwaite Bridge back to the car park on your right.
