A circular walk from the delightful village of Castle Combe where many of the buildings are English Heritage Grade II listed. The route features open farmland, woodland and a wooded valley as well as visiting the picturesque village itself.

The walk starts from the visitors' car park (grid ref. ST845777) above the north end of the village and accessible from the B4039 in Upper Combe. After parking exit onto the lane and turn left to the B4039. Turn left and take the first land on the right signed to Grittleton. Follow the lane for 650 metres to reach Summer Lane and turn right along a track. After passing Green Barrow Farm on your left the track leads into a tarmac lane. Continue ahead at the first junction and when the lane bends right continue ahead along a track. The track passes through trees and leads to the B4039 (grid ref. ST860772).

Continue ahead along the B4039 using the grass verge on the right if traffic is busy. Pass the Kent's Bottom sign and turn right through the hedge opposite a bridleway finger post (grid ref. ST862770). The bridleway passes to the left of Kent's Bottom Farm to join a track which leads to a gate. Continue along the right-hand edge of a field to another gate. Walk ahead to the next gate and bear right down to the bottom tight-hand corner of the field. Pass through a gate follow a woodland path for 500 metres to another gate. Pass through the gate onto open grass of West Yatton Down. The route follows the valley and then bends left along fence to reach a gate and a lane (grid ref. ST851759).

Turn left along the lane and fork right towards the small community of Long Dean. Continue to a post box in the wall on your right and turn right along a bridleway. The track continues up the wooded valley for 1.5 kilometres to cross a small stone bridge that leads to The Street, the principal throughfare through Castle Combe. Turn right through the village and continue to the Market Place. Fork left and pass the Castle Inn on your right. Fork right and continue under an arch along Park Lane. The lane bends left and when it ends follow track on the right uphill to steps and a gate. The path bears right with the golf course on the left and leads into School Lane. Continue ahead and turn left up The Street back to the car park.
