An excellent linear walk following the inland section of the Wales Coast path between Pennal and Aberdyfi, part of which is the 'Panorama Walk'. There are some fine views across the Dyfi estuary and into Happy Vallay (Cwm Maethlon) as you follow the path across the hills above Aberdyfi. It is suggested your park in Aberfyi and catch the G21 but to wards Machynlleth and alight at Pennal, or use two cars. The bus service has suitable departures from St Peter's Church on the A493 about 300 metres east of the main car parks. There is no convenient bus service on Sundays.

The start is the car park behind the beach in Aberdovey (grid ref. SN613959). After arrival in Pennal, walk back towards Aberdyfi along the A493 and turn left along the access drive to Plas Talgath. Keep right when the drive forks, Pass bungalows on your left and continue up the drive which soon bends left between buildings. Continue ahead (signed to adventure playground) keeping to left of the end bungalow on your right. After a few metres fork right off the grassy track to follow the Wales Coast Path into a plantation. The onward waymarked path soon descends across fields to a gate at Penmaendyfi (grid ref. SN687992).

Keep ahead down a drive with a high hedge on the left passing a large house also on the left. Continue down the narrow lane to a junction. Turn sharp left and then right through a metal kissing gate with adjacent fingerpost. Descend to a footbridge and follow path across field just to the right of a pole carrying power cables. Pass through another kissing gate and follow path which initially runs beside a small stream on your right. Continue ahead to join a track. Pass through a metal farm gate and turn right and continue to the A993 (grid ref. SN681994).

Cross with care to the path opposite and bear left up a narrow lane between hedges as signed as a no through road. After an initial climb, the lane levels before reaching the end of the tarmac at Cefn-cynhafal. Just before the end of tarmac, fork left and follow the lower track. The track, eroded in paces, climbs steeply to enter open access land with views across the Dyfi Estuary. The track also becomes a path along this section. An optional visit to Lyn Barfog (Bearded Lake) can be made by turning right off the Panaorama Walk/Wales Coast path (grid ref. SN652983).

Continue along the path crossing the southern flank of Tyddynbridell Hill before descending to isolated Bwlch Farm (grid ref. SN644980). Keep to the left of the farmhouse and head uphill on a clear track. Pass through a gate to join an undulating tarmac lane. Enjoy the view on the right into Cwm Maethlon. After two kilometres the view switches to the left and the Dyfi Estuary. As the lane descends you reach a Wales Coast Path sign by some wheelie bins (grid ref. SN621974). Turn left downhill to a kissing gate on the right just before Erw-pistyll farm. The path descends to a gap in the left-hand corner of the field. Pass through trees, cross a footbridge and follow a narrow woodland path above a valley passing through kissing gates with a view to the Dyfi Estuary. Descend steps to a track and cross to a path with railings that leads down to the A493 in Aberdyfi. Turn right to return to the start.
