A beautiful and peaceful walk along the shores of Loch Linnhe in Lochaber. The route starts from Cuil at the southern end of the Ardsheal Peninsula and follows the shoreline to Kentallen for an easy walk along the former trackbed of the Ballachulish to Oban railway which is now a mixed-use trail. Throughout the walk there are great views across the loch and to the hills and mountains of Lochaber.

The walk starts from the minor road from the A828 to North Cuil where parking on the verge is available (grid ref. NM978553). After parking continue ahead with the loch on your left and follow grassy path beside a fence. This leads into a track which enters trees. Cross streams and when track bends right, head left through a gate. Continue ahead to the right of a cottage, pass through a second gate to cross a low rocky ridge. Continue along the shoreline following track which soon bends right, crosses a stream and the heads left up a rise and the crest of a low ridge (grid ref. NM966559). Turn left and continue along a path to Rubha Mohr and enjoy the views.

Retrace your steps along the ridge and bear left aiming for a group of trees. Pass the trees on your left to join a path that soon reaches a wall. Cross the wall and to reach a grassy area on the shore. Continue along path passing Back Settlement Cottage on your right. Follow coast and join a track which passes through a stand of trees and then crosses a rocky outcrop before crossing a beach and another low wall.

The onward route follows the shore with walls and fences on your right. The views are spectacular with the spiny profile of Garbh Beinn across Loch Linnhe and the bulk of Ben Nevis ahead. Continue along the shoreline to pass through two gates to join a road (grid ref. NN004578). Turn left and follow road through the small community of Kentallen passing the small church to the A828. Cross the road with great care to the right of a yellow fire hydrant sign and clamber up the bank to the mixed-use track and turn right.

Follow the track for just over two kilometres to reach a road (grid ref. NM995553). Turn left and then right to rejoin the mixed-use track. After 800 metres the track swings right, crosses the River Duror and then swings left alongside the river. Just before the next footbridge, turn right to the A828. Cross with care to minor road opposite signed to Cuil and follow road back to the start.
