Walk Route Description

Photo from the walk - Abberley Circular

This Worcestershire circular walk starts from the Village, Abberley, which lies a few miles west of Stourport on Severn. The route passes close to the Abberley Clock Tower, explores an undulating section of woodland, offers views to Malvern Hills, and ends with a section through pleasant farmland.

Limited parking is available opposite the Manor Arms Inn (grid ref. SO 753679). After parking, face the Inn and turn left and then veer right onto the signed public footpath up a lane (Wynlatts Way). You are now on the Abberley Circular Walk. The route climbs steeply through woods to reach a road (grid ref. SO 751674). Turn right uphill and after 150 metres turn left at a footpath sign to join the Worcestershire Way.

You now have just under five kilometres of pleasant woodland walking along the waymarked Worcestershire Way. The route initially climbs to reach the OS trig point on Abberley Hill and then follows an undulating path along an undulating ridge. The path passes to the right of a disused quarry and reaches a lane at Shavers End (grid ref. SO771682).

Turn left along the lane and soon bear right and continue along the Worcestershire Way across fields to reach a road at Netherton House (grid ref. SO764688). Turn left along the road for 250 metres and take the signed footpath through the hedge between waymark posts. Continue along the generally well-trodden path (Abberley Circular Walk) through fields with a view across to the wooded ridge walked in the early stages of the route. The path leads back to Netherton Lane, where you turn right and the return to the start.
